About Marion County Long Term Recovery Group
Marion County Long Term Recovery Group is dedicated to serving the community and helping individuals and families recover from natural disasters. Our organization is committed to providing long-term support and resources to those in need. We work tirelessly to rebuild homes, restore communities, and offer assistance to the most vulnerable. Through collaboration with local partners and volunteers, we strive to make a lasting impact and bring hope to those facing adversity.
RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION
Established in 2018, the MCLTRG has continued to distribute food and other commodities to the Community by way of its network of volunteers called "Care Centers". 20+ community hubs, e.g., churches and community centers, serve as local Care Center locations around the County: the MCLTRG is able to distribute resources to these centers; then the volunteers from these centers distribute to the people with need in their immediate locales. These resources are allotted as they are made available by donors: everything from canned goods to sweet potatoes, sanitizing materials, etc.

HOME REPAIRS AND REBUILDING
Originally through a HUD Grant administered through the SC Dept of Commerce, and in partnership with what is now SC Office of Resilience, the MCLTRG became a means by which those who met certain need guidelines could receive repairs or replacement of their homes that were damaged through Hurricane Matthew or Hurricane Florence. The MCLTRG has its own general contractor, and many homes in the County were repaired / replaced through its work. Since then, there have been other comparatively smaller contributions that have allowed primarily repairs and upgrades such as roofing, flooring, and ramp installations on the homes of the needy.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT / TRAINING EVENTS
The MCLTRG periodically hosts events that provide the community with the opportunity to hear from a variety of presenters whose goal is to help citizens to become more empowered and self-sufficient. In these public events they can gain capacity for home purchase and retention, legal and financial counseling, small business development, and access to holistic services that are often free but not well-known. Often held in area schools in the early evening, these events often feature a small meal and even local entertainment moments, to foster a family-friendly atmosphere while providing educational and hope- building experiences.
